Yesterday in the exchange we mentioned Google's Stunning Voice Translation App an I thought it would be interesting to post some related articles for various reasons. Mainly because it's a good way to improve vocabulary but also, because it could make this blog more interesting. So i hope this encourages you to post more!!

Tuesday 18-01-11
Hello and welcome back! I'm proud to say that this Tuesday was great! We had 2 natives and we managed to fill our small part of the bar. Also, we managed to speak quite a lot of English (at least the people I was speaking to).
We had some new faces in the exchange this week, including Eva, who had commented here in the blog previously. To thos new ones I'd like to say Welcome, and I hope we will see you often in the exchange.
The exhcanged started at more or less 20:00 when a lot of us met outside, and we all came in together. We went down to the back of the bar and started speaking English almost immediately. We had some interesting topics, such as an article By the minister of industry and culture, Sinde, where she, once again, proved that culture is not exactly her thing.
The exchange finished quite early this week, at around 22:00, and a small group of us went to have dinner together.
All in all, I'm quite happy with the result of this week's exchange.
It is unclear wether I will be attending the exchange next week or not, but it will nevertheless take place at the same time in the same place. So I hope you will all still attend. Hopefully I will indeed go and see you there.
I'd like to thank all of you who attended this Tuesday and I hope you read this blog and comment!! ;)
Here are this week's pictures:
This week's pictures were taken with Turco's phone and therefore have a better quality. Enjoy!

Tuesday 11-01-11
Well, I promised I would do this, and here it is!
This Tuesday was quite a success, as yet again we filled the small "reserved" area we have in the bar. Quite a lot of people came, mostly the usual ones, but we also had some new faces!
I was surprised to see an old friend of mine make an appearance for the first time in the exchange (David) and we had some laughs.
A lot of English was spoken, which is good, but we still have to improve that, because at some points, some people gave up and just started speaking Spanish or Galician (myself included sadly) so that is something which we will have to look at.
Also, we had Taylor from Boston back in the exchange and that was nice, because it's always good to have a native speaker to practice with. She also mentioned that next week another native will be coming!! That's great news!!
Finally, I took some pictures, and this is the one that came out best. Next week I'll probably borrow my mother's camera to take some better looking pics...;)

The picture was taken from the small "balcony" overlooking our "reserved" area.
Anyway, I hope to see you guys back next week!! ;)

Back to the routine... (and some notes)
Just posting to say that this Tuesday 11th we return to the routine, so there will be exchange as normal. At 20:00 in Calderería.
Also, I'd like to add a few notes:
-From now on I will try to post at least one picture of each exchange, with a summary of what happened more or less.
-I would also like to say that I will TRY to post more frequently. Yes, I know I haven't posted much lately, but I'm hoping that will change soon.
-I would really like to add a google map of the exact place where we meet (A Calderería). If anyone knows how to do it, please tell us!! I will try to research into that.
-Finally, I'd like to just like to encourage more people to follow the blog. It would be nice to know that at least ONE person reads this... other than me.
See you this Tuesday, hopefully...^^

End of the Year and other stuff...
Well, this year is over. I have created this blog with the hope of letting people know about our exchange every Tuesday, and how things develop, but it seems I have failed somewhat.
However, I have recently come to find that people ARE reading our blog, and that poeple DO read our facebook group and this makes more and more people come to our exchange. Therefore, the battle is lost, but the war is not over yet.
I have therefore made the resolution to resurrect this blog, and update this and the facebook group regularly, so I hope you like them and I how to have your support.
Happy New Year everyone!!

Exchange, Tuesday 11-05-2010
Hello and Welcome back!
In this entry I'd like to give you an update of how things went in the last exchange we had on Tuesday 11-05-2010.
I'd like to begin by saying that it was a great success yet again, and we achieved to gather a whole of 20 people throughout the exchange. However, these 20 were not together at the same time, because some people came earlier and also had to leave earlier, etc etc...
From five past eight to around quarter to nine, we had the pleasure of counting with no less than 6 native speakers from different parts of the USA. They, however, had to leave quite early, so most of the people that came later, couldn't meet them. It's a real pity they had to leave so early, because we could have really enjoyed their company, and also we would have had a very didactic session.
Aaaanyway, the thing is, that soon after the 6 American natives left, the rest of the people started to arrive. A total of 13 people plus a person from Finland.
The session was quite fun and dynamic, and we got to speak and practice our oral English very well. We also learnt a lot about the military service in Finland and we had a couple of newcomers too.
All in all, we had a great time, but nothing like the exchanges we'd been having from about two months back when we used to get around 25 people. We must try to achieve that again.
I'd finally like to apologise for not having any photographs for you from this Tuesday, but I will definetly try to change that for next Tuesday. I will just have to remember to take the camera.
Thank you very much for reading this, and, also, I hope to see you next Tuesday!!^^

Bienvenida v2.0
OK, this is my second entry, and an update on the first. I believe I forgot to mention a couple of things which I will be addressing now. Firstly, I would like to say that the exchange is an English-Spanish, exchange where people who know Spanish and want to learn English, and people who want to learn Spanish and know English meet at A Caldereria, and have a language exchange. Just wanted to clear that up.
On another note, there will be 3 people writing on this blog, and The language we write in MAY vary. For example, I may write in English or Galician. Javi (Cuchillitos) told me he would write in Spanish, and I suppose Turco will too. Therefore we will have quite a variation of languages for people to read in.
Finally, if for any reason anyone would like to get in contact with us, you may write to:
santitorr@hotmail.com
And in subject please write O Parrafeo, because otherwise, your email might be deleted befor being read.
I hope to see everyone next Tuesday, and I will be giving everyone the new URL to the blog. Also, I would really like to take a group picture and post it here next Tuesday and keep a log of how many people attend.
Thank you very much and I hope to see you soon.

Benvida-Bienvenida-Welcome
Welcome to the official blog for the exchange O Parrafeo which takes place every Tuesday in A Calderería (Santiago De Compostela).
In this blog I will be bringing you news and other things related (or not) to the exchange with the help of Javi (Turco) and Javi (Cuchillitos). We will also post videos and pictures taken in the exchange.
As I said before, the exchange takes place every Tuesday in the bar A Calderería, in Santiago de Compostela. It officially starts at eight o'clock in the afternoon, but anyone can drop in at any time. The exchange is open, free and anyone can come anytime they want.
This exchange has been going on for some time now. I personally don't know how long. I started to go in November 2008, and it already had some time. Since the previous organizer stopped coming near the end of 2009, and since I was the most veteran and the most regular assistant, I took on his footsteps. I began to remind people to come to the exchange and encourage them to come.
Finally, we decided to make this blog for varoius reasons. Firstly, I wanted a webspace to keep everyone posted on the exchange and news, etc etc. Also, I had the Idea to post a Picture every Tuesday to show how many people really come, and thus encourage other people who read this to come and give this a try.
Anyway, This is just a brief intrduction (and an improvised one...as you can tell). I hope this does something, and I hope more people come to the exchange thanks to this.
Thank you very much and Welcome to the new blog!!
